Indian Ambassador to the Netherlands Mr. Manbir Singh visited the City of Lansingerland to understand the horticulture industry in the Netherlands.
The visit started at the famous flower auctions in the Netherlands - Flora Holland. Mr. Manbir Singh (standing in the middle of picture below) was received by senior members who gave him a very informative guided tour. Mr. Singh was impressed by the level of transparency and use of technology. He requested the top staff at Flora Holland to transfer the technology and the logic behind the auctions to India.
The second visit was to the unique Improvement Center in city, where new innovations and techniques of growing flowers and vegetables in glass houses are tested in real-life conditions. This commercial enterprise provided Mr. Singh with the knowledge of cutting-edge technology in the horticulture industry.
The visit was rounded off by visits to two global companies – Monsanto and Anthura. The city of Lansingerland is home to the headquarters for Monsanto’s operations in Europe Middle-East, and Africa. Mr. Manbir Singh was taken for a tour of Monsanto’s state-of-art processing facility of seeds. Anthura is a company dealing exclusively in Anthuriam- a decorative flower. The company is active in China since 1991 and has started dipping its fingers into the rapidly growing Indian market as well. The directors received Mr. Manbir Singh and explained the logistic systems that help them manage their production line with maximum efficiency.
