Trust in The Netherlands

Fiscal facilities such as the extensive tax treaty network of The Netherlands, the application of the participation exemption for corporate income tax and the absence of withholding taxes on interest make The Netherlands an attractive location to set up a holding and/or finance companies. In addition to that, the possibility to conclude advanced tax rulings with the Dutch Tax Authorities provides the opportunity to obtain certainty in advance about your fiscal position in The Netherlands.

Dutch B.V.´s are often used for this purpose by internationally operating companies, private individuals and families. It is for instance common practice to have a holding and finance company in The Netherlands for the major publicly rated U.S. based companies.

The use of holding and finance companies in The Netherlands can cause substantial tax savings within your organization structure, thus improving your position in a competing environment.

In case you would be interested in incorporating a Dutch holding and finance company for your current corporate structure, a registered address for this company would be required. Furthermore, to benefit from tax treaties, it is often of importance that at least 50% of the managing board of such company is Dutch resident. Of course a Dutch holding and finance company would also have to comply with financial and legal obligations under Dutch law.

Nowadays The Netherlands count between 150 and 200 by the Dutch Central Bank licensed trust offices, employing in total about 1,700 employees, that can provide a registered address to your company, provide Dutch resident managing directors, do the book keeping and all other services that are required to keep a holding and finance company in good legal standing.
